Direct Message

Have you tried sending a direct message to someone on Twitter whom you’re not following? You can’t.

I’m not arguing about the privacy policy of Twitter platform; it is good that unsolicited messages are disallowed. You can only tweet the person you’re not following. Good practice. What I fail to appreciate is that why Twitter shows the option of “Send a direct message” when it knows I’m not following the person? This is unnecessary workflow that several users must be going through just to realize after few clicks that you cannot do it.
