Don’t Use Submit Button

in One Tiny Advice, Usability

We’ve added a new category called “One Tiny Advice” – this shall I hope interest many of our readers in receiving direct, to the point practical tip (only 1 in 1 post). Thanks to the encouraging response to our category “Just One Other Thing” which essentially points out just one interesting user experience example, sparing the readers from vast theories, I thought it would be nice to give out small practical tips. This post is the first in this new category…

submit button

The submit button is the loser; it’s vague and does not command confidence of the intention (it’s a subconscious thing). Direct actionable text works better as seen in case of all successful sites of today. This UXMovement blog post explains it nicely.

The Tiny Advice:

Discard the “Submit” from your online presence and give it a more direct, meaningful action text.
