in User Experience, User Expression

I am a big fan of Ted Talks. They’re educative, innovative and make for a productive leisure activity [if there ever was one!]

Now I came across this ‘interactive transcript’ tool a while back and consider it one which genuinely makes life quite simpler and should be adopted across many video sites around the internet .

So what is this interactive transcript all about?. It is simple. It is just a written draft on the speech in the video. Makes sense? Why not. If i do not have the patience to browse through the entire video, in this case the 19 minutes of Ted Talks..I can simply choose to read the talk. What makes this tool ‘interactive’ is that every sentence is hyperlinked to the talk. So if at one point of time i believe that the speaker is saying something important and is worth being seen, or is showing a diagram/ ppt which is very relevant i can simply redirect the video to the exact moment I wish to see.

Thus, the major benefit of this tool is that it allows the user to customize his observing experience. Its almost like doing selective studies in school. Read what is important and score the marks. The rest should not waste your time.
